To the editor:

According to the latest reports, our local high schools are not doing well against their competition, resulting in mediocre ratings at great expense per pupil. An acquaintance of mine wanted to help the local high school and volunteered to be a substitute teacher a few years ago. He sat through several STEM courses. For the most part, these courses, as taught, were confusing and in some cases totally wrong, confusing even the brightest students.
