PORTER, Maine — A 23-year-old Porter man was found dead Tuesday night following an altercation at a residence in Standish, Maine's Department of Safety said in a release Thursday.

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Kennie Drive in Standish at about 9:28 p.m. Feb. 3, 2026. When they arrived, they located an adult male deceased inside the residence.

The victim was identified as Thomas Foster, 23, of Porter. Authorities said there is no danger to the public. The investigation remains ongoing.

A second adult male was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit — South was called to assist with the investigation.

Foster was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta, where an autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
