PINKHAM NOTCH — The late Al “The Rev” Shafner was a crowd pleaser. just as he was through the years as a beloved local entertainer, as the snow sculpture created in his likeness at this year’s 25th (newly renamed) Dave Rothstein Jackson Snow Sculpting event won both the People’s Choice and Sculptors’ Award in judging Sunday at Great Glen Trails outdoor Center in Pinkham Notch.
“We had to do it for Al. We just had to,” said Joe Shafner, son of the late entertainer, working on the base of the snow sculpture outside the base lodge of Great Glen Trails on Saturday.
