To the editor:

I have a suggestion for Market Basket. Instead of dragging things out in court, why don’t you negotiate with Shaw's to buy their building since they will most likely have to close once you prevail and build a fourth grocery store in this market.

Supermarkets are typically fierce competitors when it comes to real estate. Unlikely for Albertsons and Demoulas to cooperate on a location unless they are forced to. Also MB finds it either cheaper or better to build their own locations (organic growth) than to buy out other companies (mergers & acquisitions).

i agree, i can't believe we are going to allow a fourth grocery store pretty much within walking distance of each other. The valley isn't going to be able to support it especially if we keep telling the out of staters to stay home. Shaws and Hannafords are too expensive and i despise walmart, but sadly you can't beat their prices.
