I last wrote of a booking faux pas that routed me to Washington, D.C., rather than to Worcester, Mass., to see comedian Nate Bargatze. I’m inspired to tell of another recent experience I had in my quest to see a live performance of another renowned comedian, as it was similarly convoluted. I seem to be establishing a track record. The common thread in these two incidents is the use of my cellphone. Understand that I’m far better suited to a larger screen.

Last summer, John Mulaney was scheduled to perform in Portland at the Cross Insurance Arena. While not a fan of the venue, I’m most definitely a John Mulaney devotee, and so I bought tickets.
