The convicted Cape Cod drug dealer who police say shot a local bricklayer with a bow and arrow on the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks faces two new drug charges for allegedly trying to eat his stash.Mark Rosa, 27, allegedly took a mouthful of crack before police tore off his pants this fall behind a North Conway billiards club and booked him on assault and narcotics charges, according to new indictments released Friday. Rosa had just sunk an arrow into the shoulder of his housemate, Daniel Baity, and fled the nearby scene of the altercation between the two men, police say. Baity was not seriously hurt.Rosa was indicted this month by a Carroll County grand jury on felony charges of drug possession and attempted falsification of physical evidence. The ex-convict is due in Superior Court on Jan. 23. Rosa and the victim had worked together on a construction crew, while living with other men from the crew in a rented house in a sub-division behind the Up Country tavern off Route 16. Before Rosa's arrest, the 166 Valley View Road address had come under police surveillance and was notorious for wild parties and suspected illegal activity. A man had only recently sped out of the home headlong into traffic, slamming his truck into a mini-van at the Route 16 intersection. The driver was busted for drugs after police said he panicked when he saw a parked cruiser on a stake-out.Rosa, who remained in jail, has prior drug charges out of Barnstable and Falmouth in Massachusetts, prosecutors say. After allegedly eating the crack, Rosa was sent to a detox bed in the hospital. Police took off his pants suspecting he might have hidden drugs or other evidence inside, they said.Rosa boasts a 10-page rap sheet out of Massachusetts, including for crimes spanning narcotics, running from the law, assault and battery and tampering with witnesses, police said.Rosa has hinted in court that he may claim self defense, and allegedly told police his job was to sell narcotics at the request of his housemates.Housing inspectors grew curious after one renter described a high number of unrelated occupants, and police have said the landlord planned to clear out all his tenants including the bow-shot victim.
