CONWAY — Calling it a positive step toward helping create local housing, the Conway Zoning Board of Adjustment unanimously granted a request for a variance at their monthly meeting July 17 to a couple who want to add a third residential unit to their two-apartment complex at a site that once was home to Abbott’s Ice Cream at 22 East Side Road.
Located within walking distance of the Saco Covered Bridge and across from Washington Street Park, it most recently was home to Mt. Washington Valley Screen Printers but was then sold to another individual who had it rezoned residential. That owner had it permitted as a 1,300-square-foot apartment with a 500-square-foot accessory dwelling unit.
