METHUEN, Mass. — Sen. Jeanne Shaheen visited the New England High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area headquarters located near the New Hampshire/Massachusetts border early this week for an in-depth briefing on regional efforts to reduce the availability of illegal drugs: fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine, and marijuana.
The New York Times reported in its Jan. 21 story about a young man from Pembroke fighting opioid addiction that a "ready supply" is available just over the state line. The story stated that "the old mill towns of Lawrence and Lowell have long served as hubs of major drug distribution networks that funnel opioids throughout New England."
