CONWAY — While the Saco River bridge in Conway Village was partially shut down last month for a previously announced paint job that will continue several more weeks, the state Department of Transportation recently said additional bridge work will take place this month both on Route 302 in Crawford Notch and on Route 16 (Conway Village's Main Street) over Pequawket Pond.

Last year, the deck and abutments of the 63-year-old, 405-foot-long Saco River Bridge were repaired, and expansion joints and shoes replaced. The work done by general contractor was CPM Constructors of Freeport, Maine, last approximately three months.
