JACKSON — On Tuesday, the Jackson Board of Selectmen will award the Boston Post Cane to Alice Pepper and Alice Proctor.
According to the Jackson Historical Society’s Leslie Schomaker, “Awarding the ceremonial cane — given to the town’s oldest citizen — to two people is unusual, but so are the ladies: both 96, both arriving in Jackson at 2 weeks and 4 weeks old, living across the street from each other in houses owned by their grandfathers. Both have had remarkable careers and made a difference.”
