CONWAY — A panel of experts Monday heard comments from the public, elected officials and local candidates regarding housing on 400 acres of county land in Ossipee, during the first listening session of the Mount Washington Valley Housing Coalition’s three-day charrette.

A charrette is a conceptual exercise that brings a number of professionals together to see, based on current zoning ordinances, what could be built on a particular piece of land, in this case, land near the county complex at 95 Water Village Road. The complex includes the nursing home, jail and sheriff’s office as well as farm lands.

How many existing residents will be forced to leave due to the increase in property taxes?
