At a delegation meeting on Feb. 21 at the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin, Robert Larson of Lancaster outlines a proposed resolution to Coos County legislative representatives to consider designating Coos County a "Second Amendment Sanctuary."  (BARBARA TETREAULT PHOTO)

BERLIN — A large crowd of gun-rights advocates asked the Coos County legislative delegation last Friday to declare the county a "Second Amendment Sanctuary County."

The resolution argues that local governments have the right to refuse state and federal firearm laws that violate the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The Bill of Rights to the U.S. Constitution is all the 'input' the committee needs. Fundamental rights are not subject to any plebiscite.

The BoR prohibits search or seizure warrants without probable cause. Reasonable suspicion is NOT probable cause. The BoR prohibits the denial of fundamental rights without due process of law, FIRST, not afterward. The BoR standard for denying rights is an evidenciary adversarial hearing; ex parte hearings are insufficient. The BoR declares the right to keep and bear arms as fundamental, and commands that it shall not be infringed.

The opinions of people who insist that there are "yes, BUT" exceptions to those commands are woefully incorrect, and they should be ignored.
