CONWAY — A two-day bell-ringing effort at Market Basket last Friday and Saturday raised nearly $1,900 to support Salvation Army assistance programs serving 14 towns across northern Carroll County, local officials said.

Conway Town Manager John Eastman said “celebrity” volunteers collected about $1,000 on Friday and roughly $874 on Saturday at the North Conway Market Basket. “We were very, very happy,” Eastman said. “It was bitter cold, but people were wonderful and giving.”
