BARTLETT — Bartlett resident Steve Hempel, a nationally board-certified teacher, has raised concerns at the last two Bartlett School Board meetings. He doesn't believe teachers at Josiah Bartlett Elementary School are setting up students for success.

Hempel, who served on the Bartlett Strategic Planning Committee in 2023, is a board-certified teacher (early childhood generalist). From 2009-16, Hemple was a literacy coach for pre-K-12 for the public schools in Glassboro, N.J. From 2017-18, he was the district literacy coach for pre-K-8 in the Commercial Township Schools in Port Norris, N.J.
