BARTLETT — The Bartlett School Board and supporters of Josiah Bartlett Elementary School agree that both sides need to do a better job of communicating and work together to create a more positive environment at the school. Still, after Tuesday’s meeting, the sides may be further apart than ever.
About 20 citizens filled the community room at the school, with many voicing their concerns over the board’s personnel committee’s (Heather Forbes and Andrew Light) decision at the July 1 meeting not to give contracted teachers a $6,000 signing/retention bonus and non-contracted staff a $2-per-hour raise after voters approved two warrant articles for that to happen at the annual school district meeting last March. Despite the board’s attorney saying the articles could be illegal, voters narrowly passed them.”
