OSSIPEE — Disgraced former Bartlett Police Police Chief Tim Connifey was sentenced Thursday to 90 days in jail for lying to a grand jury about having sexual relationship with a female defendant. The sentence was the result of a plea deal. Carroll County Superior Court Judge Amy Ignatius said she approved the sentence despite reservations that it was too light.

Connifey's attorney, Nicholas Brodich of Tarbell & Brodich PA in Concord, said the sentence was fair because Connifey had taken responsibility by pleading guilty relatively quickly. He also said the shame of this affair will haunt Connifey forever. Connifey, 54, now of West Roxbury, Mass., was Bartlett's police chief for 13 years.
