Like the weather, the opening of the 2009-10 school was perfect. Principals across SAU 9 welcomed enthusiastic students and teachers into their buildings Thursday morning, the first pre-Labor Day start in years, and by all reports opening day was a smooth one.

"You wouldn't know it's the first day of school," Sherry Ward, receptionist at Kennett High, said, "everything has just gone so smoothly." She added, laughing, "Watch now, at 1:31 p.m., I just jinxed the whole place for the rest of the school year."
