CONWAY — Student-athletes at Kennett Middle School will have some new teammates when practice starts next week. The Conway School Board voted 6-0-1 (John Skelton abstaining) to welcome students from Josiah Bartlett Elementary School to play seventh- and eighth-grade football and field hockey this fall.
With declining enrollments as both schools, this is the "new normal" — the sharing of resources — according to board members for both school districts. Earlier this month the Bartlett School Board (5-0) gave the green light for interested Bears to suit up with the Eagles, pending Conway School Board approval and provided expenses are paid by parents or a booster club.
