Fireworks burst over the crowd gathered in North Conway's Schouler Park last New Year's Eve. (RACHEL SHARPLES PHOTO)

CONWAY — After initially announcing that fireworks would not be part of this year’s official New Year’s Eve festivities, the North Conway Village Association has confirmed that the celebration is back on — and it’s bringing something new to the table.

In August, Conway Parks and Rec Director Mike Lane said the business association was no longer interested in a late fireworks show because most businesses are closed by 9:30 p.m. and weather is unpredictable. Also, Cranmore Mountain Resort always holds an earlier show the same night.
