William E. Lewis, Jr., 56, of Lewiston, Maine died on Friday morning, June 27, 2003 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine due to illness.He was born Aug. 17, 1945 in Cornish, Maine a son of William E. and Doris L. (Gathercole) Lewis, Sr.As a child and young adult he resided in Fryeburg, Maine, attended schools there, and worked as a chef in the Mount Washington Valley area. For the last few years of his life he lived in the Rumford/Lewiston, Maine area.In addition to his mother, of Fryeburg, he is survived by twin daughters Shara L. Smith of North Conway, N.H. and her daughter; Cara L. Holman of Campbellsbury, Ky. and her three sons; his son, William H. Lewis of Littleton, N.H. and his two sons; four sisters Rochelle Whitaker of Fryeburg, Maine, Renie Chaplin of Fryeburg Maine, Sharon Lewis-Minschwaner of Fryeburg, Maine and Priscilla Lewis of Brownfield, Maine; a brother, Theodore P. Lewis of Union, Maine; several nieces and nephews.He will be sadly missed by a loving friend, Sadie Dow of Lewiston.In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a sister, Rosalie Thompson of Fryeburg.Services will be at the convenience of the family. Should friends so desire, donations may be made in Mr. Lewis's memory to the Fryeburg Rescue League, Fryeburg, ME 04037.
