Conway Town Planner Ryan O'Connor told the planning board that an interim ordinance "is available to the town when there is some kind of lack of capacity to be able to accommodate the rate of growth." (DAYMOND STEER FILE PHOTO)

CONWAY — The Conway Planning Board is working on a warrant for April town meeting that would slow development until the town's zoning ordinance is updated, which is expected to be completed in two years.

The new ordinance is only in the draft phase but would decelerate commercial development and even some large-scale housing subdivisions if they do not exclude short-term rentals.
