TAMWORTH — This picturesque, white-steepled village overlooking the Sandwich Range was once again the place to be last Saturday, as it was a beehive of activity for the Remick Country Doctor and Farm Museum’s 16th annual Ice Fest and Winter Carnival.

I had thought of going skiing, given that it was a perfect sunny mid-February day and the conditions at all of our touring centers and alpine areas could not be any better this first of two February vacation weeks — but I am glad that at the last minute, I decided to head south instead to check out Tamworth’s carnival.
