An informal group meeting at the library, with cooperation from the selectmen and the Transfer Station manager, has reintroduced recycling in some categories, set up a website featuring many articles and videos regarding the dangers of plastic waste, discouraging the use of plastic straws, promoting cloth shopping bags and composting vegetable waste to ameliorate garden soil. Supporters of recycling are also encouraged to learn about and support legislative initiatives that encourage a decline in the use of plastics. The group recently met and the intensive agenda covered discussion and action on a variety of recycling related topics.

The Tamworth selectmen approved the Recycling Project’s Swap Shop at the Transfer Station on April 20 to 21. More information can be found at facebook.com/tamworthrecyclingproject. The swap shop is available only to residents with transfer station stickers.
