Do you dare take the plunge to help raise money for the animals at Harvest Hills Animal Shelter? Celebrating its 16th year, “Freezing for a Reason” takes place on Saturday, Feb. 17, during the winter carnival at Highland Lake in Bridgton, Maine. You can download a registration form at harvesthills.org, pick one up at the shelter, or register by noon on the day o f the jump. Jump time is 1 p.m.

Don Legare of Denmark, Maine, is battling Stage 4 prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones. He underwent surgery in December to have a tumor on his brain removed.
