CONWAY — Abenaki Trail Restaurant & Pub played host to the first Mouth Off MWV lip sync battle, presented by Valley Promotions on June 6. A full house greeted the performers, there on behalf of their favorite non-profit organizations.

Bootsy Kramer kicked off the show with a vintage act to Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots are Made for Walking.” M&D’s Positively Possessed energized the crowd with an 1980s-inspired workout to a remix of Harry Belafonte’s “Banana Boat Song.”

Carol Vanilli followed with a tribute to Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.” Johnny and June Together Forever got right into the spirit with “Jackson” and Out of Their League rocked “Stacy’s Mom” by Fountains of Wayne.

The Valley Dueling Diva’s closed out the first part of the program with the Weather Girls hit, “It’s Raining Men.” Following intermission, the crowd was treated to an encore from M&D’s Positively Possessed with “Ghostbusters” and by Carol Vanilli, with Led Zepplin’s “Rock & Roll.”

The crowd roared their approval of the creativity displayed by all of the performers, and voted by making donations to their favorites. Those donations, which totaled over $1,800, stayed with the organizations the act represented and an additional $150 was the prize for the winning organization.

The Valley Dueling Divas, featuring Lady Vanessa and Ta’ Miracle Whip, took top honors for White Mountains Pride, and the Golden Microphone trophies for themselves. White Mountains Pride is operating as a non-profit under fiscal agent Mount Washington Valley Preservation Association.

Other organizations who were represented were Friends of the Conway Public Library, M&D at Eastern Slope Inn Playhouse, Friends of Fryeburg Public Library, Carroll County Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and Tri State Modelers Club.

Valley Promotions Executive Director Lisa DuFault was extremely pleased with the show and says it will be back.

“Our board of directors is discussing Mouth Off 2 for the fall,” she said.

Stay tuned for those details and start working on your acts now.
