This coming weekend on Saturday, Aug. 16, the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library will hold the 39th annual Arts and Artisans Fair at the New Suncook School starting at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event has become one of the most popular Artisans Fair in this area of Maine. The people taking part are the best in their field as all are juried. The Fair committee strives each year to bring new people to the fair for a larger variety of inventory as this is one of the biggest fund raiser for the library. Along with the artisans the Used Book Sale brings in many who still like to hold a book in hand. The menu of luncheon items grows and of course the home made deserts are legendary. Take a turn around the gym and see what individual people can produce, and when the feet start to complain stroll down to the cafeteria and rest while you have some pie or a whoopee pie or a sandwich and when rested prowl through the books for winter reading. What better way to spend a day and know you're helping the library to continue the wonderful programs held at the library? Don't forget your tickets for the raffle the items donated by the Artisans are wonderful.
The Lovell Volunteer Fire Department will be holding the annual chicken barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Center Lovell Fire barn. This is always popular for those who worked the Artisans Fair no cooking that night. The menu includes chicken and all the fixings and desert. Again this is a popular event so come early so that you are assured your dinner. They will have to go containers for those who prefer to eat at home. The price this year is $9 per person.
