For more than four decades, Starting Point has been quietly shaping the emotional intelligence of Carroll County’s youth through its Healthy Relationships curriculum. Delivered in local schools, the program teaches students the essential building blocks of respectful relationships — consent, honesty, empathy, boundaries, and self-agency — while also helping them recognize red flags like jealousy, manipulation, and abusive behaviors.

Despite occasional misconceptions, the curriculum does not include sex education. Instead, Starting Point focuses on fostering self-respect and respect for others — cornerstones of healthy relationships and human development for people of all ages.
