CONCORD — Tickborne illnesses are on the rise in New Hampshire and state officials are encouraging people to use DEET, wear long sleeves and pants, and check for ticks when they spend time in the outdoors this year.

There are five different tickborne illnesses in New Hampshire: Lyme disease, anaplasmosis, babesiosis, Powassan virus and Borrelia miyamotoi.
