Giant church picnic to be held Sunday at Camp Calumet

There will be a giant church picnic at Camp Calumet Sunday, Aug. 25, with many various activities going on throughout the day. The public is invited to attend. The Lutheran Camp and Conference Center is located on Ossipee Lake Road in West Ossipee.At 11 a.m., there will be a festive worship with the Rev. Christopher Hoyer, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Worcester, Mass.From 12 noon to 2 p.m., a barbecue will be held at the lake. Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chicken and a variety of salads will be served. All afternoon there will be crafts, games, sporting events, pontoon boat rides, hay wagon rides and waterfront activities for all ages.At 4 p.m., Ray Makeever and Linda Breitag, song leaders, composers and musicians, will perform in concert. As members of the music group Bread for the Journey, they travel widely, leading music for worship services, workshops and concerts featuring songs of justice and faith from around the world.A buffet dinner featuring London broil, seafood newburg and an array of fruits, vegetables, breads and scrumptious deserts will be served at 5:30 p.m. No reservations are necessary.
