At last the long stream of taillights heading south has dwindled, replaced now by the occasional fleeting pair even as October‘s early evening darkness quickly appears. This, the end of three day holiday weekend, marks the final end point of summer; Labor Day and the Fall Equinox simply setting the stage. Now, for a bit, it’s our quiet season, our quiet time.

Last month, over in Sandwich at the fair, the crowd was thinner, likely due to the morning’s rain and was thus somewhat subdued. We always go on the last afternoon when the crowds are lighter and you can palpably feel the long strains of late autumn setting in.
