G. Russell Welch, 66, of Sweden, Maine, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at the Bridgton Health Care Center following a long illness.He was born in Quincy, Mass., and graduated from North Quincy High School in 1954. Mr. Welch has lived in Sweden, Maine, for the last 30 years. Mr. Welch owned and operated Twin Gable Farm Enterprises Interiors and Antiques, and was widely known for his artistic abilities. He was extremely active in community services and was responsible for restoring the historical town hall in Sweden. Mr. Welch participated in and guided the historical society for many years.He was a great lover of animals and was on the board of directors of the Harvest Hills Animal Shelter and a member of the Maine State Humane Society.Surviving are three sisters, Barbara Wilson of Hanover, Mass., Doris Fantasia of Falmouth, Mass., and Gail O'Hara of Georgia; many nieces, nephews and friends. He will be sadly missed by his constant and loyal companion, his dog Sam.No funeral is planned. Internment will be held at a later date for friends and relatives.Donations may be made to the Harvest Hills Animal Shelter, Route 302, Fryeburg, ME 04037.
