Elizabeth E. (Bates) Ross, 85, of Governor Wentworth Highway, Mirror Lake, passed away July 5, 2004, at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro. Elizabeth was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Cranston, R.I., the daughter of the late Frederick and Elizabeth (Barker) Bates.Elizabeth had lived in Cranston for 82 years before moving to Mirror Lake to live with her daughter, Jean Allard, and her husband, Chuck Allard.While living in Cranston, she had worked for the General Electric Company, the Unemployment Security and Leesona Corporation. Elizabeth loved reading, crossword puzzles, and wacthing the boats at the Wolfeboro town docks.She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Vincent Ross. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Allard and her husband, Chuck, of Mirror Lake, and Janet Nicoll and her husband Eric of Tacoma, Wash.; a grandson and three granddaughters; and one great-grandson. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Lester, Frank and Robert Bates.There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held Sunday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 913, Wolfeboro, NH 03894, or the charity of your choice.Lord Funeral Home, Route 28, Wolfeboro, is in charge of arrangements.
