The U.S. Postal Service hosts Passport Day at the Conway Post office, 175 Main Street, Conway, on Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Passport fees are $82 for children under 16, and $97 for those 16 and older. Travelers to and from the Americas, the Caribbean and Bermuda will soon be required to have a passport to enter or re-enter the United States. As of Dec. 31, passports will be required for all air and sea travel to and from Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean, and on Dec. 31, 2007, passports will be required for all air, sea and land border crossings. Anyone interested in applying for a passport, or renewing their old passport will be able to do so during this Passport Day. Passport photo service will also be available.Proof of U.S. citizenship is required, in the form of a certified birth certificate or naturalization papers. Proof of identity such as drivers license, old passport, military ID, et cetera, will need to be presented. Children under 14 years of age require a signature from both parents. It takes approximately six to seven weeks for a routine passport to be issued. Expedited service is available for an extra fee of $60. The price includes a $30 processing fee, along with a $67 fee to the U.S. Department of State. Photo services will be available for $15. An original birth certificate with raised seal, a photo ID, parents' places and dates of birth, and a valid driver's license and Social Security number are required.Credit or debit cards, checks or cash will be accepted for the processing fee.
