A $1,700 grant to the town of Ossipee for erosion control at the town beach on Duncan Lake is among the $140,630 in conservation grants the State Conservation Committee is awarding to eight New Hampshire municipalities and conservation organizations for 2010. The committee’s recommendations will be considered by governor and council in early 2010.Â
The Ossipee project is the smallest on the list. Other recipients of grant awards ranging from $5,000 to $40,000 include: the town of Acworth for Desbiens Property Gove Forest; the Aubon Sargent Land Preservation Trust for Schoodac-Brook Tumbull Pond; Beaver Brook Association for Potanipo Rail Trail Erosion and Reclamation Project; Merrimack County Conservation District for Pine Lane Farm Milk House Waste Project; National Wild Turkey Federation for Successional Habitat and Winter Food Source Development; the Society for the Protection of NH Forests; Wildlife Habitat Enhancement Demonstration projects; Rocks Estate and the Nature Conservancy for the Great Bay Oyster Restoration Project.
