CONWAY – Noting that it was a positive step toward helping to create much needed local housing, the Conway Zoning Board of Adjustment unanimously granted a request for a variance at their monthly meeting July 17 to a couple who want to add a third residential unit to their two-apartment complex at the former Abbott’s Ice Cream at 22 East Side Road .
Located within walking distance to the Saco Covered Bridge and across from Washington Street Park, it most recently was home to Mt. Washington Valley Screen Printers but was then sold to another individual who had it rezoned residential. That owner had it permitted as a 1300-square-foot apartment with aa 500-square-foot Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU).
