CONWAY — Profile Subaru of Conway held its annual “Share the Love Event” check distribution on May 3, during which the local dealership presented checks to representatives of two local nonprofit organizations, Jen’s Friends Cancer Foundation and Assisted Canine Training Services (ACTS) of East Conway.
Jen’s Friends received a check for $11,204 and ACTS received one for $6,746.
“We’re happy to help these two organizations which do so much for our valley – we love being able to give back to our community and are proud to still be a local family-owned company for over 35 years,” said Profile Subaru General Manager/owner Dale Petell, explaining that more than $140,000 has been donated to Jen’s Friends through the program over the past 10 years and that A.C.T.s was added as a second local nonprofit this year.
He said Subaru of America’s “Share the Love” program has been going on for the past 16 years and began enabling dealerships to open it up to local nonprofits of their choice a decade ago – which is when Profile first selected Jen’s Friends as their choice organization.
Through the program, after a customer purchases a vehicle during the “Share the Love” dates, this year held from Nov. 16, 2023 through Jan. 2, 2024, Subaru donates $250 to the customers charity of choice – customers may choose from one or more. In addition to the local charities, there are four national charities from which to choose. This year those four were ASPCA, Make-A-Wish, Meals on Wheels and the National Park Foundation.
Over the last 16 years, through the Subaru Share the Love® Event, Subaru and its participating retailers have donated more than $288 million to charity, with customers choosing between four national charities and nearly 2,300 hometown charities.
Assisted Canine Training Services trains service dogs for people with mobility disabilities and facility dogs for professionals using animal assisted therapy in their full time protection or jobs.
Jen’s Friends Cancer Foundation provides supplemental financial assistance and other resources to cancer patients and their families in the Mount Washington Valley who are uninsured, underinsured, or financially challenged, allowing them to focus on battling cancer without worrying about the indirect financial burdens that often arise.
