It is a time of sad reflection: to commemorate and mourn the lives lost on that day in America and to give thanks for their sacrifice to America. It is the first day in many years that I declared myself "off duty" at the wildlife center and I spent the day watching television coverage of the events Sept. 11, 2001. Although it has been five years, a half of a decade, we will never forget.To the members of our military around the world, protecting and defending America, they as well are not forgotten and are remembered in daily prayers. If anyone wants yellow ribbons, they are still available, and will be, for as long as people ask for them. From the poem "God Bless America" by Helen Steiner Rice, "And 'The Stars and Stripes Forever' will remain a symbol of a rich and mighty nation, built on faith, truth and love."
