Call Laura at 539-2077 for further information on any of these topics.The Bike Rodeo has been postponed until Sunday, May 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The PTA will serve lunch. The sixth grade Spaghetti Dinner and Auction was a huge success. Mr. Giles and his students are very grateful for the abundant auction donations and generous local support. More than enough money was raised to send the entire sixth grade to Camp Sargent. Many thanks to the sixth grade parents for all of their help, with special thanks to Cindy Clancy for all of her work in the kitchen. The dinner at Camp Calumet and art show following the dinner this week were both very well attended. Aside from the terrific turnout and yummy food provided by Camp Calumet, there was a great deal of fantastic art on display at the school.The Beach Club has its annual beach clean up this Saturday at 9 a.m. Bring your rakes. A wheelbarrow or two would also be helpful. Beach membership is open to Freedom property owners. Call Melissa at 539-1026 to learn more. The 2007 passes have been mailed out. Be sure to get your payment and updated address information in as soon as possible.Betsy Gemmeke, from School to Career, is looking for one or two parents from Freedom who would be interested in becoming parent welcomers. Training for the parent welcomers will be provided. Kennett High School parents are needed to man the resource table at a Saturday, June 9, event featuring dinner and keynote speakers. Please remember to sign up for court time no more than 24 hours in advance. The courts are reserved Friday afternoons for the FES tennis club. There are 14 junior players participating in the tennis club. Anyone interested in helping the with the junior tennis club should contact Ingrid at 539-4142.The First Christian Church of Freedom will sponsor four consecutive Wednesdays of discussion on "Women in the Bible," led by Jennifer Rich. She will initiate the program and talk about Leah and Rachel this Wednesday, May 9, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the church. All are welcome; no preregistration is required. Study sheets are available in the fellowship room the week prior to each meeting. Save this dateJune 3! Childrens service at 10 a.m., followed by the not-to-be-missed annual church picnic at Camp Wakuta. Enjoy fellowship, food and hopefully warm sunshine in a beautiful waterfront spot. Sign up at the church so we know roughly how many adults and children to grill burgers and hot dogs for. Please choose a side dish signup of green salad, potato salad, cheese and crackers or dessert. Forest Advisory Committee will meet next on June 6. Freedom Planning Board meets May 17. Closing deadline for June applications is May 31. All above meetings take place at the town hall at 7 p.m. Selectmen meet every Monday night at 6:30 p.m. Let Karen at the town office know by 1 p.m. Thursday if you want to be placed on the agenda for the following Monday night.Mark Feuerborn is the featured artist of the month at the public library. Library story hour is Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Bring your preschoolers to participate in Elizabeths interactive story hour and see what cool craft Judy has for the week.The Freedom baseball coaches report that opening day was a huge success, with all four Freedom teams winning their games. Way to go, Freedom! Players greatly enjoyed the "Soak the Coach" game. Thanks to Sherri Desmarais and Miriam England for volunteering to be the soakees.Happy Mothers Day to all moms out there.
