LANCASTER — On Thursday, Coos County Superior Court Judge Jonathan Frizzell sentenced Dustin Duren of Berlin to serve 45 years to life in the New Hampshire State Prison, following his October conviction of killing the mother of the couple’s two young daughters. Dustin, Duren, 38, was charged with murdering Caitlyn Naffziger by shooting her in the head on Feb. 29, 2024, while Naffziger sat on the couch inside his apartment at 1063 Main St. in Berlin.

Frizzell agreed with state prosecutors Assistant Attorney Generals Bethany Durand and Joshua Speicher in their sentencing recommendations and not with defense attorneys Hanna Kinne and Margaret Kettles, who sought a 25-year sentence.
