I think spring is really here! I know every time the sun is out Cole and Shalaun both say they are happy to be outside riding their bikes! So, everyone beware, of all of the children out enjoying the great weather!I received an e-mail from Scotty Mallett. He wanted me to let everyone know that the Bartlett Historical Society is still very much active and is seeking new members. Thanks for all of the info, Scotty!In honor of National Poetry Month, the Friends of the Bartlett Library will host an evening of poetry with Donald Graves at Bartlett Public Library on Thursday, April 13, beginning at 7 p.m.Donald Graves is a resident of Jackson and a longtime writer and teacher. His books, "Writing:Teachers and Children at Work" and "A Fresh Look at Writing" are international bestsellers popular with both teachers and students. His collection of personal stories, "How to Catch a Shark" has been a local bestseller since 1998. He is currently professor emeritus from the University of New Hampshire.The evening promises to be one of fun with poetry for all ages. Anyone attending is encouraged to bring their own poetry to share. This event is free and open to all.The Mount Washington Valley Cal Ripkin Baseball League is raffling off Red Sox game tickets. Frist prize is four Red Sox versus Tampa Bay tickets for Sunday, May 28, along with a one night stay (May 27) in Cambridge. Second prize is four Red Sox versus Tampa Bay tickets. Third prize is two Red Sox versus Tampa Bay tickets.See Steve Canalas in the Bartlett Recreation Department to purchase your raffle tickets. Raffle tickets are $5 each. The drawing is to be held on Saturday, April 29.Students will be collectin pennies for patients fighting leukemia. Classrooms will have a box to collect spare change. So send in your extra change!Also, it's time for Busy Bees again. They began their fund-raising projects and will continue until May 31. The Busy Bees donate the money they earn from chores or work to their PTO or PTA and volunteer to perform community service for not-for-profit organizations. Those Busy Bees who meet the community service (three hours) and fund-raising ($20) standards will be recognized with a free day at Story Land. An accompanying adult will also be admitted free. For more information, please contact the school at 374-2331.I received a phone call from Pastor Bill Rose, from the Glen Community Baptist Church. On Good Friday, April 14, they will be holding a service at 7 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 16, there will be a Sunday Sunrise Service at the base lodge at Attitash at 6:30 a.m. Following the service, there will be a pancake breakfast at the church with the regular Sunday morning service starting at 11 a.m.I know my kids are looking forward to coloring their eggs on Saturday night for the Easter Bunny on Sunday morning. It is always a fun time at our house to find the eggs that the Easter Bunny has hidden all of the house! Also that Easter Sunday is a special day because it is my stepson Shawn's birthday!
