CONWAY — With “The Pillowman,” which opened on Thursday, April 19, at 1857 White Mountain Highway, M&D Playhouse is taking a dark descent into a bleak totalitarian world in a play that recalls “1984,” “Of Mice and Men” and the macabre tales of the Brothers Grimm.
Written by Martin McDonagh, who won an Oscar this year for Best Original Screenplay for “Three Billboards Outside of Epping, Missouri,” “The Pillowman” centers on Katurian (Eric Jordan), a writer who is being interrogated by a pair of detectives about the gruesome content of his short stories in connection to one of their investigations.
