FRYEBURG, Maine — With the backdrop of the current Writers Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild, Arts in Motion Theater Co.’s production of the “Newsies,” the Disney musical about the 1899 newsboys strike, couldn’t be more timely or relevant.

“Newsies,” which opened Thursday at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center in Fryeburg, Maine, with performances Thursday through Sunday for the next two weeks, is based on the 1992 film of the same name.

Alec Kerr, entertainment critic for The Conway Daily Sun, discusses Arts In Motions production of "Newsies" with director Jacob Dunham and cast members Ava Frechette (Spot Conlon) Stella Keeler (Woodside) and Logan New (Davey). "Newsies" opens Thursday, July 19, at the Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center in Fryeburg with performances Thursday through Sunday for two weeks.
