TAMWORTH — If you’re looking for something to do this weekend that will make you feel wonderful, check out Tom Rush live on stage at the Barnstormers Theatre on Saturday night. I had a chance to chat with Tom this week about his upcoming solo show, his decades of performing, and how he keeps his creative juices flowing after all these years.
I first enjoyed Rush at a live concert at the University of Maine at Orono back in 1974 and have seen him on stage several times since, including last fall at Stone Mountain Arts Center, back in 1998 at the Barnstormers, and with great luck once on stage at Symphony Hall in Boston. He stands, then as now, as one of those great singer/songwriters who started out back in the folk era, and yet whose message is timeless. Whether you’re listening to his early breakout album, "The Circle Game" or his newest title, "Gardens Old, Flowers New," you’ll find something you’ll like and with which you will soon sing along.
