“The Hitman’s Bodyguard” is the perfect Sunday afternoon or late night movie. This is sort of movie you find flipping through TV channels or stumble upon on Netflix. It is undemanding entertainment that goes down easy and doesn’t require much focus.

Starring Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds, “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” is an unapologetically formulaic buddy film. This action sub-genre reigned supreme in the 1980s and ’90s with such films as “48 Hrs.,” “Lethal Weapon” and “Midnight Run,” the score of which “Hitman’s Bodyguard” briefly quotes.
