BERLIN — The North Country is becoming a hotbed for baseball talent and a collection of high school players are making their marks across New England. For the third time in a row, the Ryan Scammon Post 36 Junior Baseball Team not only repeated as District A state champions, but the squad capped off a great summer of ball by winning the prestigious Northeast Junior Regionals impressively.
The team, coached by DJ Johnson went 3-0 in Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Maine, Aug. 9-11 dominating its opponents and outscoring them a combined 28-1. This year, 127 teams battled to be the last team standing in Bangor on Aug. 11 and the honor went to Post 36.
