CONWAY — For just the second time in the Mount Washington Valley Cal Ripken League’s 27-year history, the U12 state champions now reside here in the valley. MWV went 4-0 in Franklin in the six-team U12 (60-foot base paths) four-day tournament. The winning formula was team baseball, featuring solid defense, lights-out pitching and timely hitting.

“Every single player contributed in some way, which was the best part, there’s nothing better than that,” said Josh McAllister, head coach of the MWV team. “This was a team in every sense of the word. Early on in the tournament, we didn’t get a lot of production from the top of the order, but the middle and bottom of the lineup came through.”
