CONWAY — Swarming team defense has been a trademark of the Kennett High girls’ basketball team this season and it’s the chief reason the Eagles are heading to the Elite 8.

Before a crowd of more than 400 spectators at the Nest on Tuesday night, Kennett won its first girls’ playoff game in six years and did it by putting the defensive clamps on 12th seeded Windham. The No. 5 Eagles held the Jaguars to just 18 points through the opening 23 minutes on their way to a 39-28 victory. KHS won the battle on the boards, was a step quicker to loose balls and contested every shot the girls from Windham put up.
