CONWAY — Long before the invention of the cellphone and video games, Schouler Park in North Conway was the place to be for more than 40 summers. It was the heyday of the Saco Valley Softball League. Players would come from all parts of Maine and the Granite State to play arguably the best modified-pitch softball in the country.

This summer would have marked the 65th year of the league, but for many the memories are just as fresh today as they were more than four decades ago. To celebrate the days of yesteryear, a Glory Days Committee has been created and a Saco Valley Softball League reunion is planned for Tuesday, April 29, from 6-8 p.m., at the Conway Parks and Recreation Department in Conway. Anyone who ever suited up and played in the league is invited and encouraged to attend.
