CONWAY — The annual Conway Parks & Recreation Department’s Turkey Trot is back but it’s taking on a whole different look.
Held for years after school got out in the afternoon at the former Center Conway site at Dick O’Brien Field, the event will be held at the new facility at Kennett Middle School this Saturday, Nov. 23.
The races will start promptly at 9 a.m.
Children ages 5-12, who are residents of Conway and Albany, are welcome. There will be eight races, 5/6 girls, 5/6 boys, 7/8 girls, 7/8 boys, 9/10 girls, 9/10 boys, 11/12 girls and 11/12 boys.
The winner of each race will receive a turkey. In addition all participants will receive a raffle ticket and the Conway Rec will raffle off four additional turkeys. All participants receive a Turkey Trot participation ribbon.
The race will take place on the field behind Conway Elementary School.
“We expect a great turnout Saturday. This is always a popular event, and with it moving to Saturday, we are anticipation an even larger turnout,” said Michael Lane, assistant recreation director. “We’re changing things up this year. It won’t be the all-out sprint like we’ve had in the past. With the new site, we’ll be able to run a longer course, making it more of a trot.”
