“I do much of my creative thinking while golfing. If people know you’re working at home, they think nothing of walking in for a cup of coffee. But they wouldn't dream of interrupting you on the golf course.” — Harper Lee, author

In 1773, the Royal Burgess Golfing Society in Edinburgh, Scotland listed some golf rules. Two were directed at caddies: “No golfer shall under any pretense whatever give any old balls to the caddies” and “No member of this society pay the caddies more than one penny per round.”
